I looked up the particulars of that subject and found the actual legislation they were talking about:
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Assembly Bill 222, a piece of legislation calling for the addition of "sexual orientation" to the existing non-discrimination laws of the California Education Code, may soon be challenged in the courts if state lawmakers vote to pass the bill.
The bill, sponsored by State Assembly Member Sheila Kuehl, was passed by the California Assembly Education Committee in a 10-7 vote last Wednesday, less than three weeks after more than 700 lesbian and gay youth along with "straight" allies lobbied for the bill's passage in Sacramento at the State Capitol. The bill now moves to the Assembly Appropriations Committee where it will be heard sometime before the end of May.
The California Education Code currently recognizes the right of every student to educational opportunity without regard to "race, creed, color, national origin, sex, or economic status." The legislation, Kuehl said, would simply add "sexual orientation" to those sections of the Education Code that now protect students from sexual orientation discrimination.

Well I feel that says it all!! But sadly there have been sheeple intentionally mislead to believe that these laws have been added as a cuuriculum item to some schools. The sad fact is that in any debate forum when I ask for the source of these ridiculous rumors Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Neil Boortz, Laura Ingram and other right wing speakers are to blame.
And the information that they are promoting is sexual orientation classes are being legislated into our schools. The general right wing has misinformed the public to believe that gays are in fact using this legislation to move through the school systems in order to 'recruit' more gays into the fold.
The only other subject the right wing masses are even more misinformed about is welfare!! In the chat rooms there are no 'welfare' recipients to chat with. Could that be because they can't afford a computer? But they are getting rich off the welfare dime!!!
Republicans love guns and God, but queers, and anyone down on their luck in this economy are just plain stupid. With geniuses like these representing the Republican Party I can't help but wonder just how long it will be before we get into another civil war!!!! |
