The truth of the matter is that taxes have not been raised yet on anyone. In fact, millions of working families are paying less in taxes and the stimulus provided much needed relief from the unfair policies of the Bush Administration in helping working folks pay less taxes. President Obama recently outlined the many ways that working families are receiving tax relief:
Up to $8,000 for first-time homebuyers. The credit will be available through the end of April.
Up to $2,500 for college expenses.
Up to $1,500 for making energy-efficiency improvements to homes.
For new vehicles purchased between Feb. 17-Dec. 31, 2009, the state and local taxes can be deducted.
An expanded child tax credit providing $1,000 for each child under 17.
The earned income tax credit now provides up to $5,657 to low-income families with at least three children.
Many workers have already received, through adjusted withholding in their paychecks, the "Making Work Pay" credit of as much as $800 for couples and $400 for individuals. For those who haven't yet received the full amount due, they will get the additional money when they file.

As always however the Republicans could care less about real facts. They only seek to protect the insane profits of the very few, and only consider it a tax cut if taxes are cut only on the very wealthy. The rest of us mean nothing in the eyes of the Republican Party. Just listening to John Kyl whine pounds that point home:
Since most small businesses pay taxes as individuals, the increase in marginal income tax rates will hit job creators hard," he said.
"Republicans believe we need to act now, in a bipartisan way, to head off these tax increases," he said. "That would show job creators and families that its safe to invest and save.
Of course Kyl ignores the fact that only one part of the Bush tax cuts is in danger of not being extended:
"Republicans believe we need to act now, in a bipartisan way, to head off these tax increases," he said. "That would show job creators and families that its safe to invest and save.
Obama wants to extend Bush's tax cuts, except for individuals making more than $200,000 a year and couples making $250,000.
Working America are you listening?? The fact that taxes have been cut on you means nothing. The fact that your return was larger than this year means nothing. If you make less than $200,000 a year then you are completely insignificant to the Republican Party.
We keep hearing how Republicans want to "take their country back". When you really look at it who do they want to take it back from?? Middle-class families and workers on the front line every day actually doing the work that makes America run. To them, only those who make the most money should qualify for a tax cut and the rest of us are garbage.
It is just sad that so many Americans fight with the Republicans against themselves. Oh well, I still enjoyed my fat tax check this year!! |
