John Waltz: On Memorial Day

by: RDemocrat

Mon May 31, 2010 at 18:06:28 PM EDT

With the Mad Doctor Rand Paul running in the Senate race that race will be getting plenty of attention nationwide and on this site because not only is the Rand Paul vision for our state and country dangerous, but Jack Conway happens to be a pretty good candidate in his own right. However, with all the press that race will bring the fact of the matter is we have some fine Democrats running in other races too. One of them is John Waltz. His campaign has already shown surprising strength and as a veteran himself he wanted to speak on Memorial Day.
RDemocrat :: John Waltz: On Memorial Day
An email from the Waltz campaign:

For some Americans Memorial Day marks the unofficial beginning of summer and a day to get together with friends and family for barbeques. I think it is important to remember the reason we set aside this day. Millions of our brothers and sisters went off to war in distant lands with the hope of coming back to their loved ones, but never made it home. Whether we agree or disagree with the wars our nation endeavors in, we can never forget those who were willing to give their life to secure the liberties we cherish.

This day reminds me of the wars I fought in and the friends that I lost along the way. I lost shipmates while serving on board the USS George Washington. While in Iraq, three Marines who were like family to me fell during an ambushed convoy. The pain of losing someone with whom you served never quite disappears, but the pain is even greater for their family and friends waiting for them back home.

This Memorial Day, I ask each of you to take a few minutes to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. I also ask that you remember the importance of taking care of our brothers and sisters coming home from war with devastating injuries and memories that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. They need our support and not just hollow political chatter. They stepped up for us, now it is time we step up for them to ensure they get the care they deserve.

The care that I and others often receive, comes with too many strings and hoops to jump through, and is often too little or too late. The greatest respect we can pay our veterans is making sure they receive the best care, quickly, and are not simply used as political props. For each one of us this is our duty, and it is one we need to reaffirm on this day.

I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day, and as always, feel free to email back with your thoughts.

Warmly,
John Waltz

This guy is the real deal folks. His has been working hard meeting the voters and is having a very successful run at raising funds. In an anti-incumbent year it is essential our party pulls off some upsets and this is one that if the national party gets behind this candidate we have a chance to do just that.

So this Memorial Day lets not only honor our troops but lets support a veteran who will honor our troops with more than talking points because he has seen first hand the sacrifices they make. Go here and support John Waltz:
