Now that the debt ceiling fiasco is coming to a close one thing is certain. This debate has shown all that is ugly in America and is calling the functionality of our Democracy into question. How can anyone ever say that American Democracy exists when a small band of selfish, idiotic ideologues can hold the whole country hostage to achieve their selfish aims when a huge majority of Americans do not support them?? On both sides of the aisle the greed and hatred of country shown by one side and the cowardice and complicity shown by the other not only is disgraceful but with all that hung in the balance for our country in my view it was treasonous.
RDemocrat :: Treasonous
And while the zealots on the Republican side won and got what they wanted hopefully Americans have seen exactly how they feel about their country. Nothing mattered to them but to exempt themselves and their fellow elites from sacrificing anything to clean up the mess they made. Nobody was free from their ire not even the elderly, children and the folks thirty years of their policies had bankrupted.

While we expect Republicans to be selfish ideologues who constantly seek ways to lower wages, worsen working conditions, ship jobs overseas and keep Corporate America from sharing the spoils of their labors with workers it is even shocking to me the depths they would sink to insure that is done. But then again I guess it should not have. They have already shown that they would sacrifice the American economy for their own greed by crashing it. However somehow this episode seemed much more sinister.

And Democratic leaders were just as bad. They not only negotiated with Republican terrorists but they essentially surrendered without firing a shot. As always, they gave up on their ideals before they even sat down at the table. One must really wonder who in the hell is coming up with a strategy that just rolls over and dies with the power of the White House in tow as zealots make demands that seek to destroy our country for 98% of us. Right now all I wish to ask Democratic leaders is this. What good are you if you are too timid to fight for those who elected you and balance out the lunacy of the right??

One thing this debate should show all Americans. Your Democracy is dead. It has been bought and paid for in the Supreme Court and with the propoganda spewed daily and believed by the idiots in the tea party who are determined to get ahead by kissing ass instead of working hard. They think that if they suck up enough eventually the money will "trickle-down" to them without having to work or fight for it.

And as the votes in Congress go down to surrender to American terrorists today one can only conclude one thing. It is a sad day for our country and a culmination of a long process. A process that has brought about the death of American Democracy. No longer can any American really believe they are represented if their interests come up against those interests really represented by wealth, power, and extreme ignorance.

So while I watch politicians in both parties celebrate a "compromise" no American wants I can think only this. For their economic terrorism and uncaring greed and idiocy the Republicans have shown themselves for the traitors they are. For their idiocy in backing themselves into a corner and their cowardice to fight back for what they believe in and what we elected them to do Democrats have shown too their true colors to all of us.

Indeed both Democrat and Republican "leaders" have shown what they really feel about their country. For their parts in bringing about the demise of American democracy they can only be described with one word- treasonous.

should be ashamed of themselves, but they have no shame.
