I became very knowledgeable about Kentucky's 1st Congressional District 2007-2008 when Heather Ryan Democratic Congressional candidate was running against incumbent Republican Congressman Ed. Whitfield. It was common knowledge Republican Congressman Ed. Whitfield didn't really live in Kentucky and used his fathers address, 108 Alumni Ave. Hopkinsville, Kentucky 42240, as his primary residence to vote and run for Congress. There were plenty of rumors about were Congressman Ed. Whitfield really lived but nothing concrete. June 14, 2011 while researching Congressman Ed Whitfield's political donations I ran across a $2000 donation Congressman Ed Whitfield made to Mitt Romney in 2007. The address on the donation was 4356 WESTOVER PLACE WASHINGTON, DC 20016. This was an address I had never seen before for Congressman Ed Whitfield and believe me we've been looking for a long time. I Googled the address and this is what I found. Then with the Help of Mike Watt out of Western Kentucky we checked the Washington, DC tax data base and found this. 1997-2010 Congressman Ed Whitfield filled out his Statement Of Candidacy FEC Form 2 using 108 Alumni Ave. Hopkinsville, Kentucky 42240 as his address. April 28, 2011 Congressman Ed Whitfield filled out his Statement Of Candidacy (for 2012) FEC Form 2 using 4356 Westover Place Washington, DC 20016 as his address. I’m sure you're aware of Article I Section. 2. of the Constitution of the United States Of America that includes this: No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen. These are the same qualifications as specified by the Kentucky Secretary of State.
I realize a member of the House of Representatives can't always be in Kentucky and will have to stay out of town from time to time. However when a member of the House of Representatives uses an address, in the state he/she is running in, as his/her residency to run for a seat in the House of Representatives and there's real reason to believe the address is false there needs to be an investigation, and that's why I'm taking the time to write you.
Congressman Ed Whitfield claims to live at this address: 108 Alumni Ave. Hopkinsville, Kentucky 42240, however when you check his Statement Of Candidacy FEC Form 2 it gives this address: 4356 Westover Place Washington, DC 20016.
