One constant theme Republicans always harp on is what they call "American exceptionalism". To them, as long as America is letting the 1% make out like bandits and the 99% suffer this country is the greatest land on earth. However, when it comes to challenging the elites in the establishment who have been waging class war upon us all or our country taking the lead in a brave new world of possibilities they quickly change their tune. Now, Republicans are waving a white flag in surrender to Communist China.
I guess it is only fitting though. Corporate Conservative policies have created a hell of a lot more jobs in Communist China than America in the last thirty years. After all, when you have men like the Senator for Communist China Mitch McConnell in the Senate, insuring oppressed peoples and children will be working long hours for less than pennies on the dollar, what do you expect??
You expect the visionless, cowardly and greedy elites in the Republican Party to do what they do best. Surrender. Or better yet, sell out to the highest bidder and that bidder sure as hell ain't us. Mitch McConnell is not the only politician that represents Communist China in Washington:
Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), who chairs an energy and commerce subcommittee on oversight and investigations, originally supported the program when Congress created it.
When Stearns, the Republican hosting the hearings on Solyndra, was asked about the seemingly low-risk revenue models of many of the loan guarantee recipients, he acknowledged those might be safer bets. But he still doesn't like the idea of government putting taxpayers on the line for other ventures.
"We can't compete with China to make solar panels and wind turbines," Stearns says.
He says he doesn't believe in any type of subsidy for industry. And, he says, where solar is concerned, it makes more sense to invest in research and development on a technology where the U.S. still has a chance of winning.
Far from believing in "American exceptionalism" or the innovation of the American people, Republicans like Stearns would rather wave the white flag of cowardice because they, unlike millions of Americans are afraid of hard work.
Although he has been a huge disappointment to this Progressive, at least President Obama fired back at this:
I heard there was a Republican member of Congress who is engaging in oversight on this. And despite the fact that all of them in the past have been supportive of this loan guarantee program, he concluded, "You know what? We can't compete against China when it comes to solar energy."
Well, you know what?
I don't buy that. I'm not going to surrender to other countries the technological leads that can end up determining whether we're building that in this country. So we're going to have to keep on pushing hard to make sure the manufacturing is located here, new businesses are located here and new technologies are developed here. And there are going to be times when it doesn't work out, but I'm not going to cave to the competition when they are heavily subsidizing all these industries.
But the real problem for Republicans is this. New technologies are creating new jobs and new hope in America. Republicans would much rather see the Communists in China profit off their slaves because Repubicans and their handlers profit off those very same slaves. They refuse to invest in America because Americans will not be slaves and Republicans remain beholden to the past:
In fact, the clean energy sector in the United States is one of the few bright spots for the middle class in today's economy. The U.S. solar industry was a net global exporter by $1.9 billion in 2010. U.S. wind power capacity represents more than 20 percent of the world's installed wind power. The clean energy sector grew by 8.3 percent between 2003 and 2010, nearly twice as fast as the overall economy, with good-paying jobs for blue- and white-collar workers.
However, Republicans like Stearns are actively trying to cripple the future of clean energy manufacturing, by killing off any rules or programs that reward clean work instead of fossil-fuel pollution.
The huge money Republicans rake in should not keep America from taking a lead in an exciting new industry just because Republicans and Big Oil do not profit from it. It is not confined to wind and solar. We should be investing in the research and development of biofuels grown right here in the heartland of America and refined in one of the many factories that closed when Republicans and like-minded Corporate Democrats sent those jobs to China to profit from slave labor.
So our message here at Hillbilly Report to the whole Republican Party is simple. We will not surrender to the Communist Chinese in anything because unlike you we love our country more than China. We believe American ingenuity and innovation can solve many problems and lead the world once more.
If only the Republican Party would take its greed and ignorance to China where it belongs and where their hearts are we could do so easily.
