McConnell Tapes Expose the Disgrace of the Kentucky Democratic Party

One thing the "McConnell tapes" may be doing. Finally, for once exposing the disgrace that is the "leadership" of the Kentucky Democratic Party. This group of folks seems best at doing two things. Denying the Progressive ideals they are supposed to espouse, and of course snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory. Now these tapes have made one thing clear. Either the Kentucky Democratic Party simply does not care to defeat Mitch McConnell, or they actually would like to see him reelected.

At least now some folks across the nation are recognizing how inept the "leadership" can be. You see, except for a few exceptions instead of admonishing the McConnell campaign for it's horrible remarks about Judd and quite possibly breaking the law themselves they line up to eat their own. You would think they would fight against McConnell:

Wrong. Instead most Democrats-the state's party chair and one state senator have been rare exceptions-have piled onto the GOP-driven, media-fueled bandwagon that's instead been focused singularly on decrying the alleged behavior of two independently acting 20-somethings who may or may not have been involved in recording the meeting.

Sadly, the circular firing squad Democrats have again assembled comes as no surprise to observers of the state, who have watched for decades as McConnell's national rise has been aided by his utterly inept opposition.

Instead they adopt his talking points and conspiracy theories and allow him to paint himself as a victim just like they did when someone finally stated that he has been outsourcing jobs to Communist China because of his ties to them and the fact that he is getting rich in doing so.

In fact, these "Democrats" in Kentucky have probably had more to do with keeping McConnell in power and the fact that he may not have any big name challenger this time around either. You see, many potential challengers realize one sad and disgusting fact. When you run against McConnell you not only face his multimillion dollar meat grinder, you also are forced to fight against many supposedly in your own party to defeat him:

You'd expect folks to be lining up for the 2014 race to challenge McConnell, who polls as the most unpopular member of the U.S. Senate. But after Judd withdrew from the campaign-in part perhaps due to loud criticism of her candidacy by a handful of Democratic activists-McConnell remains unopposed. Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, the stated alternative of the anti-Judd crowd, still has made no official comment.

And here's where Democratic reaction to the release of the brutal, no-holds-barred McConnell tapes might have its greatest, most ironic impact: A moment that should have enraged base activists, leading them to demand a strong candidate emerge to take down McConnell, instead provided a stark and severe warning to any potential challenger-jump in at your peril. We won't have your back.

And while the whole nation is sick of the disgrace of Mitch McConnell Kentucky keeps cramming down their throats who can blame someone for not wanting to run against him? When they do they will find out one sad fact from the Kentucky Democratic Party. With friends like them you certainly do not need enemies.
