Census Worker Murder Scene Was Sickening Display From Heartless Cowards

by: RDemocrat

Fri Sep 25, 2009 at 21:15:34 PM EDT

I have refrained from speaking very much on the death of a census worker on the Eastern side of my state of Kentucky. Most of the reason is that I really had hoped in my heart of hearts that it was not a murder, and that someone in my state had not been such a cowardly, soulless piece of trash that had done such a horrible thing. However, now that one of the people that found the poor soul who lost his life trying to make some extra money and help his country has spoken out, there is little doubt that this man was murdered in a particularly cowardly, disgusting, and heartless manner.

Jerry Weaver of Fairfield, Ohio was among the group that found the census worker hanged in rural Eastern Kentucky and the details he provides of the scene paint a picture of cruelty that makes one wonder just what clicks in a truly evil individual to do such a thing. This man was clearly murdered by a deranged and evil individual or individuals:

"The only thing he had on was a pair of socks," Weaver said. "And they had duct-taped his hands, his wrists. He had duct tape over his eyes, and they gagged him with a red rag or something.

"And they even had duct tape around his neck. And they had like his identification tag on his neck. They had it duct-taped to the side of his neck, on the right side, almost on his right shoulder."

Weaver said the body was about 50 years from a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. He said Sparkman's clothes were in the bed of the truck.

"His tailgate was down," Weaver said. "I thought he could have been killed somewhere else and brought there and hanged up for display, or they actually could have killed him right there. It was a bad, bad scene."

Before going any further I would like to send condolences to the family and loved ones of Bill Sparkman. I am ashamed that something like this has happened in the state I grew up in, and have chosen to remain in because it is my home. I still hold out hope that somehow it was not a Kentuckian that committed such a heinous, grisly and completly cowardly and soulless act. No matter who committed this murder however, the fact remains that this man was doing a service to his country and that the fact that someone is so filled with hatred shows the state of the world we live in. I hope his family realize that some of us in Kentucky are deeply saddened and apolegize for the unexcusable loss they have suffered.

While it is probably best for more details to emerge before commenting further I will say this. When Nancy Pelosi commented on the hatred being spread in the guise of debate being dangerous and was excoriated for it, she may have hit the nail on the head. While government has it's problems like anything else run by imperfect humans, it is neccessary and should be amounted some measure of respect. Even Thomas Jefferson called government a "necessary evil". No matter what your belief on government this man definately did not deserve to have that vendetta taken out on him.

If these cowards have such a problem with government, why did they not walk into a police station, the capitol building or the Secret Service and file such a grievance with them?? Because there are folks there with weapons and training that could have fought back and in the true spirit of a gutless coward, these inhuman beings had to prey on someone who was defenseless or too outnumbered to fight back.

While I consider myself Progressive, senseless acts like this are one reason that I do support the death penalty in this country. I do not support it for religious reasons, but because I simply believe that society has a right to protect itself from folks that would commit such acts and that anyone who would do such a thing deserves to be brought to justice and have their life taken away too. I hope this person or persons responsible for this senseless and cruel act of murder are brought to justice swiftly and decisively. Someone who would do such a thing simply has no right to continue to draw breath on this earth.

This is the lowest form of cowardice and idiocy that exists on this earth and is an abomination to us all.
