That compelled me to go and find out about John Waltz. His website is now up and has some good info on it. Here is his letter, introducing himself to voters:
My name is John Waltz and I was born the youngest of seven children in a family deeply rooted in hard work and blue-collar values. My father gave over 30 years at General Motors and taught me the real values of being an American. My father instilled in me dedication, loyalty, work ethic, a sense of commitment to the community, and a deep love for my country that led to me to joining the military with the understanding I might end up in a war not of my choosing.
I had the distinct honor to serve on the USS George Washington and was directly involved in Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Having come home and having to fight for medical and disability benefits I learned that most in Congress have little or no concern sending us into war but are by far from willing to assume their responsibility on our return. Like every other working class American we asked for nothing more than was promised.
The fact we had to fight for our rights should be a wakeup call to every one of us and is a driving reason behind my second call to serve, which is to be your next Democratic Congressman from Kentucky's Fourth District.
I am a simple working class married father of four who has had enough of politics as usual. As your Member of Congress, I will not quit and will stay in the fight to ensure America is once again safe, secure and our children have every opportunity to savor the fruits of their labors. While I may not necessarily have all the answers or even know all the questions, I know that with your active help and support we can initiate the process of addressing these important issues in clear straightforward English.
It is time we elect a leader in Kentucky's Fourth District who is deeply concerned with the future of our beloved nation and her people. In order to reclaim Kentucky's Fourth District I humbly ask for your support in helping us tackle this serious challenge.
Thank you,
John Waltz

Here are a couple of other highlights from his site:
I support labor 100% as well as the Employee Free Choice Act, which I believe will secure jobs, increase pay, and most importantly provide much needed benefits such as health care.
I had the distinct honor to serve on the USS George Washington and was directly involved in Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Anyone who is willing to serve this country should be taken care of when they come home. I pledge to fight everyday to ensure that anyone who wears or has worn the uniform of the United States will be completely taken care of after they serve our great nation.
