Once a Dick, Always a Dick

by: RDemocrat

Thu Oct 22, 2009 at 17:09:57 PM EDT

The Republican Party as a whole is suffering from a huge case of mass amnesia. They seem to forget that they are the ones that crashed our economy. They seem to forget that they are the ones that made the whole world hate us. They forget that every policy they enacted was a miserable failure and that our country is paying huge, steep price for it now. In the case of Dick Cheney, he has forgotten that he was the one that dropped the ball on Afghanistan by insisting on a failed, costly in lives and treasure, war in Iraq.
RDemocrat :: Once a Dick, Always a Dick
Months after thankfully being escorted out of public life, and months after making a fool of himself speaking on things he obviously knows nothing about, Dick Cheney has been proving yet again that well, Once a Dick, always a Dick.

In a speech to fellow misguided zealots, Dick Cheney once again practiced his most acute form of amnesia in front of his adoring groupies:

In a hard-hitting, wide-ranging speech Wednesday for a conservative gathering, Cheney targeted the administration's decision-making process on how to proceed in Afghanistan, saying Obama has failed to give troops on the ground a clear mission or defined goals and appeared "afraid to make a decision."

"The White House must stop dithering while America's armed forces are in danger," Cheney said at the Center for Security Policy. "Make no mistake, signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries."

This coming from a man who made decisions in an Administration that completely dropped the ball in Afghanistan. A man who made decisions that allowed Osama bin-Laden to dance out of Afghanistan and continue to insult the victims of his attacks every time he releases a new "greatest hits" video. This coming from a man whose decisions sent our troops into the wrong country without the planning and equipment they needed and got thousands of them killed along with thousands of innocent civilians. Make no mistake, incompetence and idiocy, and downright cold-blooded indecision out of Cheney and the Bush Administration hurt our allies and emboldened our enemies and united them in hatred against us.

Speaker Pelosi was quick to respond:

"I don't think it's very constructive for the vice president to say that -- he's forgotten whose administration made matters worse in Afghanistan by their neglect."

But, not to be undone Cheney fired back with this pathetic, amnesiatic spewing:

The former vice president forcefully reasserted himself in the center of the national security debate Wednesday, declaring, "There will always be plenty of us willing to stand up for the polices that have kept this country safe."

But where were those wonderful policies when the Bush Administration allowed the attacks of 9-11 after being forewarned about them?? If "keeping the American people safe" is allowing the largest terrorist attack ever on American soil, then thanks but no thanks Dick.

While I do not agree with all the Obama Administration has done, Dick Cheney complaining about anybody "keeping us safe" is like the boy who cried wolf complaining about nobody believing him.

I just wish Dick would climb back under whatever rock it is that he lives in and stick his head back in the sand and shut the hell up. Once a Dick, always a Dick and he is just as much a failure now as he was then.

Actally, the Clinton administration made us the laughingstock of the world with his affairs.  This I heard from citizens of a couple of other countries, not the media.

The Clinton administration reduced the military to the point where it is not adequate to meet our needs.

What makes you think that Bush knew about the attacks before they happened.  It is true that warnings had been issued that something was going to happen, but nothing specific enough to know what action needed to be taken to prevent it.  Warnings came during the Clinton administration as well.  He didn't do anything either, probably for the same reason Bush didn't - not enough information to know what needed to be done.

Obama does need to decide, and decide soon.  Every moment that our troops don't have enough back-up is a moment they are in greater danger than is necessary.  We need to give them ALL they need to win this war.  We don't need to leave before the job is done.

It does not matter who put us there.  It does not matter what mistakes have been made in the past. It does not matter why we are there.  What matters is that WE ARE THERE!

THIS IS THE UNITED STATES.  WE DO NOT TUCK TAIL BETWEEN LEGS AND CRAWL HOME!

Our people, our government, ALL  of us should stand up for our country.  Quit the blame game.  Quit whining about what the other party does.  (Actually, neither party is doing anything anyway.)  We need to go into Afghanistan in full force, defeat the enemy, AND WIN.  That is the ONLY RIGHT way to bring our troops home and keep our country safe.

Who cares what Chaney says?  What power does he have?  Just let it ride and spend time fighting for our troops, our country, our people, no matter what do-nothing party they belong to.

you sound like another right wing nut (0.00 / 0)
that never served a day in the military.you have a enemy that may have 10k that use nothing but suicide bomber and IED then cross back into Pakistan. more troops would mean just more death from IED. the only way your going to win this war is to turn the Afghanistan people against Taliban and al-Qaeda

Oh and yes I am a Veteran 65/69
