HomeUncategorizedIraq and Healthcare: Americans are Being Insulted

Many of us have argued against the Iraq War for some time now and more of the cost and scope of the failure in that war is emerging as it begins to come to an end. At a time when America is debating whether to invest in it’s own people or not, I think we should remember that a great many of the Senators that will be debating Universal Healthcare if they even vote to do that were all for the extended war in Iraq and the wasted money invested there.

And whether you are Conservative, Liberal or Moderate the fact of the matter is that that money was wasted and the folks that pushed that war for so long were flat wrong. Now, the billions spent there may turn out to be wasted after all:

BAGHDAD – In its largest reconstruction effort since the Marshall Plan, the United States government has spent $53 billion for relief and reconstruction in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, building tens of thousands of hospitals, water treatment plants, electricity substations, schools and bridges.

But there are growing concerns among American officials that Iraq will not be able to adequately maintain the facilities once the Americans have left, potentially wasting hundreds of millions of dollars and jeopardizing Iraq’s ability to provide basic services to its people.

Hmm. I wonder if they mean basic services like Healthcare?? Despite the money invested, many Iraqis are not happy with the state of their country or the American effort:

Despite the $53 billion spent by the United States, many Iraqis have criticized the rebuilding effort as wasteful. Ali Ghalib Baban, Iraq’s minister of planning, said it had had no discernable impact. “Maybe they spent it,” he said, “but Iraq doesn’t feel it.”

So how many Senators voted for that fiasco time and time again?? Where were their calls for “fiscal restraint”. When you include the costs of blowing Iraq up and rebulding it into the construction projects you have a lot of wasted money.

Our leaders are insulting us. They are telling us that we can provide hundreds of billions of dollars in rebuilding other countries after failed wars, doling out Corporate Welfare and making the Chinese Communists very wealthy. However, when it is time to invest in our own country and the people within they cannot stand it. Do they hate America??

The people and infrastructure of America has needed investing in for some time. God knows they have never refrained from outsourcing our jobs and robbing our taxpayers for their Corporate cronies. They have even already neutered healthcare.

I hope America wakes up soon and realize they are being insulted and start fighting for their own interests over the interests they are told they should fight for.
