This news is way too believable in Kentucky, but still is just as hard to swallow as it has always been too know that our party in Kentucky has been poisoned:
The newly appointed chairman and executive director of the Kentucky Democratic Party has contributed to campaigns of prominent Republicans in recent years, including U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell and former Gov. Ernie Fletcher.
Records with the Federal Election Commission show that Daniel Logsdon, deputy chief of staff for Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear since last September, gave $500 in September 2005 to McConnell's re-election committee.
Meanwhile, records with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance show that he contributed $1,000 in March 2007 to Fletcher's unsuccessful re-election for governor and $250 in June 2007 to Republican Richie Farmer's successful bid for agriculture commissioner.

As a lifelong grassroots Democrat in the Bluegrass state, I find little comfort that my new leader fought against me when it was time for Mitch McConnell and Ernie Fletcher to be fought against. I openly question anyone in our party who could contribute to, vote for, or support Mitch McConnell in any capacity, public or private why they think they deserve to lead us at such a pivotal time. I also openly question their ability to lead our party after lining up against us in important fights.
Logsdon casually explained it away:
"When I worked in the private sector, I worked with both Democrats and Republicans," he said. "My contributions reflect that."
Which to me begs the question of if someone is too blind to see just how dangerous the ideology of Mitch McConnell is and cannot understand just how he has destroyed many things for many people in this state and nation, what right do they have to lead our party on a state level?? I was working hard all those years contributing and volunteering in opposition to Logsdon because I understand how the ideology of McConnell and Fletcher destroyed this state.
As long as our party leaders in Kentucky and across the nation feel that they fit in better with Republicans and should support them over Democratic candidates, even ones that are not famous we have a serious problem within our party and it is demoralizing to see that once again Republicans are running our party instead of registering Republican. |
