Who would've thought America would have to borrow money from Communist China to make ends meet? My answer to that question is this: Many of us have seen this coming for years and have talked about it, protested about it, blogged about it, etc, etc, etc, to no avail.
We have a National Debt problem because Democrats and Republicans, not the Communist, would rather spend money starting wars, dropping bombs, invading sovereign countries in order to fund America's military industrial complex, rather than taking care of business here at home. We currently have 662 overseas military bases in 38 foreign countries and these are just the ones our government, Democrats and Republicans, "Base Structure Report, Fiscal 2010 Baseline", tell us about.
The "Base Structure Report, Fiscal 2010 Baseline" omits several nations integral to active operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, so it’s conceivable that the actual number of sites approaches 900.
Democrats and Republicans seem content to let the military eat up 22% of the federal budget.
The Obama Administration’s FY 2011 budget request includes a total of $712 billion for the Department of Defense (DoD). The base budget for the Department includes $549 billion in discretionary funding and $4 billion in mandatory funding. An additional $159 billion is requested for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The budget also requests $19 billion for defense-related atomic energy programs, $8 billion for defense-related activities in other agencies, and $122 billion for veterans. Together these expenses total $861 billion, or 22 percent of the total federal budget.
While Democrats and Republicans bitch about unemployment benefits for Americans here in the good old USA, they don't seem to mind paying off Afghans and Iraqis.
In the ten years since the tragic events of September 11th 2001, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has undergone a metamorphosis, adding hundreds of thousands of personnel to its payroll. But, the vast majority of them do not wear military uniforms and many are not even American citizens – they are service contractors. In Iraq and Afghanistan contractors outnumber DoD uniformed personnel and nearly 75% are not U.S. citizens, according to a recent analysis by the Congressional Research Service. In fact, the DoD could fire more than 100,000 contract workers in Iraq and Afghanistan without firing a single American.
Democrats and Republicans show love for wealthy Afghans and allow them to carry our money out of Afghanistan in suitcases. About $8 billion a year.
Wealthy Afghans are carrying about $8 billion -- almost double the state budget -- in suitcases out of the country each year, an amount likely to rise as the exit of foreign troops nears and threatening to ruin the fragile economy, a senior official said.

A number of Afghan businesspeople have purchased expensive villas in Dubai, once only attractive as a golfer's paradise. These include a brother and a cousin of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, one of Karzai's former vice presidents and the brother of Mohammad Qasim Fahim, one of the country's two current vice presidents. Asking prices for the stylish, Roman-style houses built along the beaches of the man-made island Palm Jumeirah, for example, start at $2 million. Until just a few years ago, many of their current inhabitants were far from wealthy.
Yes America has a debt problem and yes this debt was caused by current and previous Democrats and Republicans and yes these same Democrats and Republicans, current and previous, allowed our jobs to be sent to China, India, Mexico, etc and imported cheap labor by turning a blind eye to illegal immigration in their effort to drive down labor cost (our wages). Now these Democrats and Republicans are telling us we are the problem and austerity measures, here in America, need to be taken. This is what they, Democrats and Republicans, are really saying: "Screw you America."
So what can we do about these Democrats and Republicans that have been "screwing the pooch" since the end of World War II? Hold them accountable, every damned one of them that have served since the end of World War II. What do I mean when I say "hold them accountable?" Use your imagination.
