Swing State Polling

by: RDemocrat

Good news is coming out of at least two important swing states. It appears as if Americans may not be as gullible as Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and the Republican "leadership" hopes. It appears now as if in two important swing states that are usually Republican strengths President Obama may be opening up a lead.
RDemocrat :: Swing State Polling
In the southern state of North Carolina Obama is registering a slim lead within the margin of error, while in Ohio the lead is larger:

A Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released Monday shows the president leading his GOP opponent Mitt Romney with 50 percent support to 45 in Ohio and up 49 to 48 percent in North Carolina.

Better yet, while Obama is at break even in popularity in Ohio, he is barely over water in North Carolina. Romney still is underwater in popularity in both states:

The poll finds both candidates receiving a boost after their conventions, with Obama's approval rating in Ohio now at 48 percent approval, 48 disapproval. That's an improvement over last month when Obama was under water with a 46 percent approval rating and 51 percent disapproval.

Romney remains unpopular with voters in the state, but has also shown gains since the GOP convention in Tampa, Fla., the last week of August. Forty-four percent of Ohio voters have a favorable impression of Romney, to 49 negative, up from his 41 favorable, 52 unfavorable rating last month.

The poll did find a strong swing among independents in the state for Obama. Last week Romney led among North Carolina independents 51 percent to 40, but now the candidates are tied at 48.

Obama's approval in North Carolina is at 50 percent favorable to 49 unfavorable, the first time the president has had a net positive rating in the state since April. Romney is still in negative territory at 48 favorable, 49 unfavorable.

Of course this is huge. If Obama can win Ohio and pull out the southern states of North Carolina and Florida it will be nearly impossible for Romney to win.
