Although I have not always been in this “irresponsible” segment of our population, I certainly qualify as a permanent fixture now, along with my fellow senior citizens, the military personnel, the working poor and most college students. |

Yes, we are the 47 percent. Most all the people I know are the 47 percent. Thanks to child credit deductions, home mortgage deductions, earned income credits and a host of other deductions that are allowed, most people I know pay little or no “income taxes.” We do however pay into Social Security and Medicare, and pay state and local taxes, sales tax, gasoline tax, school taxes, library taxes, and the list goes on and on.
I do not now, nor have I EVER felt like a “victim.” I do not now, nor have I EVER felt “entitled.” The arrogance and condescending attitude of Mitt Romney literally makes me sick. I daresay that when I did pay a very fair portion of my personal income to the federal government in income taxes, I paid a higher percentage than Mitt Romney. As a matter of fact, I know I did. Based upon the meager amount of information Mr. Romney has released about his own tax returns, I absolutely know I did.
So, for this man to make these statements about HALF the population of our country and expect to get a free pass without releasing his own tax returns I say: Mr. Romney, YOU are “irresponsible.” YOU feel “entitled.” And YOU are the self-imposed “victim” of your own selfishness and arrogance. |
