Mitt Romney's Attitude Shows the Problem With America Today

Americans going to the polls in November today can easily see the difference between the candidates for President and indeed what is wrong with our country in the last few decades. Men like Mitt Romney want to make hundreds of millions of dollars on your backs and then when it is time to pay back to the system that allowed them so much wealth they believe they should be exempt. Worse than that, they believe that they should pay less than middle and lower class Americans who work hard every day to make those profits possible.

Yes, men like Mitt Romney, the Republicans and the greediest and least patriotic among us they represent quite simply think that they are better than the rest of us. They think their lives of priveledge and in many cases their inherited money makes them more valuable than us and gives them the right to do what the hell they want.

We already heard it once in Mitt Romney's "47 percent" remarks. Now he may be trying to outdo even those disgraceful remarks. In an interview he has defended paying a ultra-low rate on his income from investments while Americans who do real work pay much more in taxes on much less money:

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said he thinks it is "fair" that he pays a lower tax rate on his investment income of $20 million last year than someone who made $50,000 annually.

"Yeah," Romney said in an interview aired on Sunday on the CBS television show "60 Minutes," when he was asked if he thought his relatively low rate was fair.

"I think it's the right way to encourage economic growth - to get people to invest, to start businesses, to put people to work," the former Massachusetts governor said.

Romney released his 2011 return on Friday, which showed he paid an effective tax rate of 14.1 percent. Romney pays a lower tax rate because his earnings come from investment income. Earnings from wages can be taxed at a rate of up to 35 percent.

Indeed, this is all that is wrong with our country and everything that has caused our problems. While men like Mitt Romney are fleecing our country dry with outsourcing, stagnate wages, and diminished benefits they are also trying to steal away the social safety net of millions of Americans who do not have to worry about paying 14.1% of their hundreds of millions on taxes. They are too worried about making ends meet.

The worse part?? The only reason that folks like Romney want to gut entitlements and slash funding for anything that helps anyone less fortunate than them? Their own greed. They have slopped at the government trough for thirty years now and are the only group to make any gains. Still, they refuse to pay even their fair share of taxes to help support the system that made their successes possible.

It all boils down to one simple fact that Americans very well better consider before voting. Mitt Romney and his ilk in the Republican Party think they are better than the rest of us. They think they should be able to do what the hell they want because they inherited money from daddy and we have to work for ours.

If this country is ever going to be great again we need to fight and win not only elections, but we need to stand up and slap people like Romney right in the mouth and let them know their days of fleecing our country dry are over, and every single American whether they live in a mansion or under an overpass is just as important as they are and deserves the same shot at the American Dream.
