The Benghazi consulate attack cost the lives of four Americans. U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, both former Navy SEAL commandos working as diplomatic security officers. The fourth was Sean Smith, an information management officer.
The Benghazi consulate attack was a tragedy and became political immediately. Tuesday, September 11, 2012 10:24 p.m. Mitt Romney had this to say:
Huffington Post "I'm outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi," Romney said in the statement. "It's disgraceful that the Obama Administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks."
Mitt Romney made the above statement before all of the facts of the attack were available to him. Facts that are still to come when the investigation is concluded.
Vice President Joe Biden had this to say during the Vice Presidential debate: "We will get to the bottom of it, and whatever — wherever the facts lead us, wherever they lead us, we will make clear to the American public."
When Vice President Joe Biden said "wherever the facts lead us, wherever they lead us" I thought Vice President Joe Biden might be trying to tell us something and it was then when I started to think about who really benefited from the Benghazi consulate attack and what did Vice President Joe Biden mean when he said wherever the facts lead us, wherever they lead us? Surely Vice President Joe Biden is privy to more information than us, classified information that he can't divulge publicly!

At a May 17. 2012 fundraiser Mitt Romney had this conversation an audience member:
Mother Jones Audience member: If you get the call as president, and you had hostages…Ronald Reagan was able to make a statement, even before he became, was actually sworn in—
Romney: Yeah—
Audience member: the hostages were released—
Romney: on the day of his inauguration, yeah.
Audience member: So my question is, really, how can you sort of duplicate that scenario?
Romney: Ohhhh. [A few chuckles in audience.] I'm gonna ask you, how do I duplicate that scenario.
Audience member: I think that had to do with the fact that the Iranians perceived Reagan would do something to really get them out. In other words [unintelligible]…and that's why I'm suggesting that something that you say over the next few months gets the Iranians to understand that their pursuit of the bomb is something that you would predict and I think that's something that could possibly resonate very well with American Republican voters.
Romney: I appreciate the idea. I can't—one of the other things that's frustrating to me is that at a typical day like this, when I do three or four events like this, the number of foreign policy questions that I get are between zero and one. And the American people are not concentrated at all on China, on Russia, Iran, Iraq. This president's failure to put in place a status forces agreement allowing 10-20,000 troops to stay in Iraq? Unthinkable! And yet, in that election, in the Jimmy Carter election, the fact that we have hostages in Iran, I mean, that was all we talked about. And we had the two helicopters crash in the desert, I mean that's—that was—that was the focus, and so him solving that made all the difference in the world. I'm afraid today if you said, "We got Iran to agree to stand down a nuclear weapon," they'd go hold on. It's really a, but…by the way, if something of that nature presents itself, I will work to find a way to take advantage of the opportunity.
It seems during the above question and answer session with an audience member Mitt Romney is asking for advice when he says: "I'm gonna ask you, how do I duplicate that scenario?" The scenario he's speaking of is the 1979 Iran hostage crisis! Well, Mitt Romney didn't get an Iran hostage crisis, but he did get Benghazi consulate attack and as he said at the May 2012 fundraiser "if something of that nature presents itself, I will work to find a way to take advantage of the opportunity."

Yahoo News On Monday morning (July 30, 2012), Romney is set to headline a major fundraiser at King David Hotel in Jerusalem, where the price of admission is upward of $50,000 per person. (The campaign is raising cash from American citizens only, since contributions from foreign donors is against campaign finance law.) The proceeds go to the Romney Victory Fund—a joint fundraising committee set up between the Romney campaign, the Republican National Committee, and several state Republican parties.
Many of Romney's prominent Jewish supporters have been invited to fly in from the U.S. for the event, and the guest list includes Sheldon Adelson, the Las Vegas casino magnet who has contributed more than $20 million so far in this election cycle to Republican candidates and conservative groups.
Under long-standing rules between the campaign and its traveling press corps, Romney's comments at the Monday fundraiser would normally be open to a small pool of reporters. But on Saturday, as Romney flew from London to Tel Aviv, a campaign spokesman abruptly announced the fundraiser would be closed to the press.

We've been told the Benghazi consulate attack had nothing to do with the anti-Islam video "Innocence of Muslims." However reporters (New York Times) on the ground have a different story.

As you can see the Benghazi consulate attack was beneficial to several groups. I'm not suggesting the Benghazi consulate attack was planned by any of the possible beneficiaries listed above, and I'm not suggesting it wasn't but I am suggesting there is more to the Benghazi consulate attack than we know now and maybe more than we will ever know. However I hope Joe Biden meant what he said when he said this: "We will get to the bottom of it, and whatever — wherever the facts lead us, wherever they lead us, we will make clear to the American public."
Oh, by the way I can't wait to see who financed film maker Sam Bacile, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, Mark Basseley Youssef, or what ever his name is, in his endeavor to make the "Innocence of Muslims" the film that created havoc in the Middle East and handed Mitt Romney a political gift.
