Tell Mitch McConnell: Listen to America!!

Republicans sure have short memories and they are getting even shorter with time. In President Obama's first term they convienently forgot the fact that their policies, proposed by President George W. Bush and enacted by a Republican Congress decimated our country and crashed our economy. They forgot that their tax policies which favored the rich and Corporations did nothing to create jobs and in fact caused the loss of millions of jobs.  Now, it seems as if after the American people spoke loud and clear earlier this month Republicans want to forget all about that too.
RDemocrat :: Tell Mitch McConnell: Listen to America!!
Americans were given a clear choice between competing visions for moving our economy and country forward. We could continue the trickle-down policies that caused so much debt, joblessness and income inequality as a solution or we could go a different route. Ending the Bush Tax Cuts for the very wealthy which have been a dismal failure and asking for balanced sacrifice from everyone to achieve debt reductions and job creation.

Now Republicans want to just forget that Americans en masse shunned their vision for America and the economy. They called for higher taxes on the rich and shared sacrifice to help our country recover. Now, just weeks after hearing those voices Republican "leaders" are going right back to doing what they do best. Ignoring the will of the majority of the American people.

They have decided that your voice does not matter if they disagree with what you have to say. Just weeks after we all spoke loud and clear and after the President has come to the table to work on a deal to bring America back from the "fiscal cliff" Republicans have decided once again that compromise consists soley of them getting everything they want and a continuation of the policies that have wreaked so much havoc on our country. Yes, now Republicans in Congress are once again refusing to do the will of the American people:

The talks between President Obama and congressional Republicans to avoid looming tax hikes and steep spending cuts regressed Monday to the same old sticking point - raising taxes on wealthier Americans.

Although both sides had expressed optimism before Thanksgiving that they would reach a deal to prevent a serious blow to the economy in January, the post-holiday pronouncements from the White House showed a re-emphasis on the president's position that tax rates must rise for families earning more than $250,000 per year. And some top Republican lawmakers again insisted they won't raise tax rates on anyone, arguing that enough revenue could be raised for deficit reduction by closing tax loopholes and limiting deductions.

They could care less that this is the very argument put forth by Mitt Romney and shunned by America in an Electoral College landslide. The simply refuse to do the will of the American people because the will of the American people is that they and the very few Americans they truly represent should sacrifice for the first time in thirty years for the betterment of their country.

Of course these Republicans are being led by the Senator for Communist China, Mitch McConnell once again:

"The election is over, but the economic and fiscal problems of the past several years have only gotten worse," Mr. McConnell said. "It's time for the president to present a plan that rises above these reckless and radical voices on the hard-Left, that goes beyond the talking points of the campaign trail, and that has a realistic chance of passing the Congress. The time for campaigning is over. It's time for the president to lead."

Of course what McConnell fails to mention is that these problems have been extended by his own stated goal of making Obama a one-term President. Selfishly, he stalled legislation that would have created millions of jobs and helped America to recover much more quickly. Now he has decided that the will of the American people means nothing and is refusing to negotiate in good faith on bringing us back from the fiscal cliff and reducing our deficit. McConnell and the Republicans he "leads" simply do not care about the damage to our country and the middle-class if a deal is not reached:

The White House instead presented a report Monday by its council of economic advisers, warning of the impact on the economy if tax cuts are not extended for the middle class in January. The report said consumer spending could drop by nearly $200 billion in 2013, and GDP growth could be reduced by as much as 1.4 percentage points.

All Republicans care about is maintaining the status-quo for wealthy Americans such as themselves and preventing the very few Americans they care about from paying more. Their goal is the same as the first time around, to somehow make working Americans, seniors and children pay for the economy they crashed and the debt they ran up.

They plan on doing this by gutting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and any program that helps Americans left behind by the trickle-down policies of the last thirty years, policies they themselves enacted that have been a huge dismal failure for our country as a whole.

We need to let Mitch McConnell know that his days of pulling the wool over the eyes of the American people has ended. We have awoken to the real problem with America, the policies he has promoted like gospel. Lets flood McConnell's inbox with one simple message. It is time he listened to the will of the American people and started accepting the fact that it is time that  folks like him sacrifice for the good of their country.

Go here and tell McConnell that he will not balance the budget on your back and that it is damn well time he listened to the American people:
