Kudos To Elaine Chao For Taking Us Beyond Coal And Shutting Down Dirty Coal Plants!

by: Hillbilly

Tue Aug 12, 2014 at 02:26:27 AM EDT

Mitch McConnell and Elaine Chao can spin this one, but they can’t change the facts.

Facts are facts.

Fact: Elaine Chao sits on the Bloomberg Philanthropies board and Bloomberg Philanthropies has dedicated $50 million to the Sierra Club for its "Beyond Coal" campaign, which has the goal to retire 1/3 of the dirty coal plants in the U.S. by no later than 2020.

Bloomberg Philanthropies

The Beyond Coal campaign has become one of the greatest success stories in the modern American environmental movement, effectively halting the construction of new coal plants and bringing about a major shift in U.S. energy policy.

Specific “planned retirement” plants have announced retirement dates, mostly by 2015 or sooner. We plan to retire 1/3 of the dirty coal plants in the U.S. by no later than 2020.
Each coal-burning plant has varying numbers of boilers, and so far, 403 coal boilers in the U.S. have been announced for retirement. We plan to retire the remaining 900 no later than 2030.
An average coal-burning plant uses 500 megawatts of energy, which powers roughly 260,000 houses a year. Our goal is to retire nearly 300,000 more polluting megawatts from coal plants and replace them with clean energy to power American homes and businesses.
As old coal plants retire, Beyond Coal is working to make sure that clean energy such as wind and solar step in to replace them, providing many new jobs for American workers.

Elaine Chao's Heritage Foundation Supported Arizona's Anti-Gay Bill SB 1062.

by: Hillbilly

Wed Feb 26, 2014 at 22:33:52 PM EST

Despite bipartisan opposition to SB 1062, Arizona’s controversial measure allowing businesses to refuse service to LGBT individuals on the basis of religious liberty, conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation maintained support for the bill in a blog post on Tuesday.

Senator Mitch McConnell's wife Elaine Chao, lives in Washington, DC and works for the Heritage Foundation and the Heritage Foundation supported Arizona's anti-gay bill SB 1062.

We all know Elaine Chao can speak up when she wants to. She didn't have a problem speaking up to American workers when she said this:
“American employees must be punctual, dress appropriately and have good personal hygiene,” said Chao. “They need anger-management and conflict-resolution skills, and they have to be able to accept direction. Too many young people bristle when a supervisor asks them to do something.”

So Elaine Chao's silence concerning her employer's position on Arizona's anti-gay bill SB 1062  tells me she's just fine with the Heritage Foundation's position supporting Arizona's anti-gay legislation.

Where Does Elaine Chao Stand In The Jim DeMint - Mitch McConnell Feud? With Mitch Or Jim?

by: Hillbilly

Tue Dec 03, 2013 at 13:23:19 PM EST

Jim DeMint is Elaine Chao's boss, over at the Heritage Foundation, and Elaine's boss Jim DeMint doesn't seem to like her husband Mitch McConnell as much as he likes Mitch McConnell's Republican primary opponent Matt Bevin. Oops!

National Review
A year later, a seat on the Finance Committee came open. DeMint had sought to join the committee repeatedly in the past, but McConnell gave the seat to Senator Richard Burr, who had never previously expressed interest in it.

After that, DeMint abruptly left the Senate to take over the Heritage Foundation, where McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, works. From his new perch, he has prompted all kinds of ire by transplanting some of his Senate tactics to the think tank. The result is that while the Heritage Foundation may have never been less loved by Republicans in Congress, it has also never been more feared. Read more.

Jim DeMint, Mitch McConnell, Elaine Chao, Senate Conservatives Fund And The Heritage Foundation.

by: Hillbilly

Mon Jun 24, 2013 at 07:00:00 AM EDT

This is beginning to look like a cheap soap opera. Former Senator Jim DeMint launched the Senate Conservatives Fund PAC before he took the helm of the Heritage Foundation. Elaine Chao, Mitch McConnell's wife, works for the Heritage Foundation and Jim DeMint is her boss. This is is getting juicy.

Jim DeMint's Senate Conservatives Fund PAC is giving Mitch McConnell Hell. I wonder how Elaine Chao feels about a boss, Jim DeMint, that seems to be picking on her husband?

Well let's just sit back and enjoy as the Senate Conservatives Fund PAC launches their radio and TV ad campaign against Senator Mitch McConnell.

Senate Conservatives Fund PAC
We're going to launch a new radio and TV ad campaign on Monday (June 24, 2013) to flood Senator McConnell's office with more calls so he cannot ignore us.

Is Elaine Chao's Silence On The Heritage Foundation's Immigration Report Racism Or Hypocrisy?

by: Hillbilly

Thu May 09, 2013 at 16:24:01 PM EDT

Elaine Chao, a Chinese immigrant and employed by the Heritage Foundation, has remained silent about the Heritage Foundation special report on immigration entitled: "The Fiscal Cost of Unlawful Immigrants and Amnesty to the U.S. Taxpayer."

We all know Elaine Chao can speak up when she feels it's necessary and can even call out racism and/or xenophobia, real or perceived, when it comes to her. However when it comes to her employer hiring someone like Jason Richwine to write a report on immigration she, Elaine Chao clams up and all we hear from her is crickets.

08/17/1988 Mitch McConnell Representing Kentucky And Elaine Chao Representing California. Video.

by: Hillbilly

Mon Mar 18, 2013 at 07:00:00 AM EDT

Mitch McConnell injected Elaine Chao into his 2014 senatorial campaign with this video. He, Senator Mitch McConnell also had a lot to say about Ashley Judd, his potential opponent, in 2014, and her California (code word San Francisco) ties in this video. He, Senator Mitch McConnell, also alluded to Ashley Judd's Tennessee residence even though his wife, Elaine Chao, according to her own Google Plus Page, lives in Washington, DC and votes in Kentucky.

As you can see, in the video below of the 1988 Republican National Convention, Mitch McConnell's wife Elaine Chao is representing California. Mitch McConnell also has San Francisco, California ties. Personally don't have a problem with that, but I do have a problem with Senator Mitch McConnell calling out Ashley Judd and others for doing the same thing he and his wife have done. It's hypocritical!

On Elaine Chao and "Racism"

by: RDemocrat

Sun Mar 03, 2013 at 09:55:52 AM EST

I have been silent so far on the firestorm started by Progress Kentucky with their remarks about Elaine Chao, former "anti"-Labor Secretary and wife of the Senator for Communist China Mitch McConnell. While I do not condone racism of any kind and normally do not believe that spouses of candidates should be included in some of the nastiness of campaigns I do believe in retrospect that a little bit of perspective about this so-called "racist" tweet would go a long way.

by: Hillbilly

Sat Feb 09, 2013 at 04:02:37 AM EST

While doing some research I ran across Elaine Chao's Google Plus page and according to her Google Plus profile she lives in Washington, DC. Chao was the property seller and Elaine L. Chao and Mitchell A McConnell were the buyers. Mitch McConnell paid $10,430 in property taxes on the property in 2012.

Senator Mitch McConnell Helps Susan Mary Collins Get The Health Care She Needs. Too Bad It's Prison

by: Hillbilly

Fri Jul 27, 2012 at 17:37:45 PM EDT

While Senator Mitch McConnell and his wife Elaine Chao are enjoying the sweet life, paid for with our tax dollars, folks like Susan Mary Collins have to be creative when seeking the health care they need.

"It was the easiest way to get myself thrown into prison without having to hurt anybody or really do anything," she said at the time.

Collins said she had suicidal tendencies, post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder. The structure of prison helped her cope with her conditions, she said. Read more.

We have just celebrated the fourth of July signifying the independence of the United States from Britain. We are NOT independent, however. Elaine Chao , wife of United States Senator Red China Mitch McConnell vowed to cement ties with Red Communist China and the United States. In November of 2008 there were enough stupid people in Kentucky to allow this to happen.

Mitch McConnell, Elaine Chao And Massey Energy Go Way Back

by: Hillbilly

Tue Apr 06, 2010 at 15:24:07 PM EDT

Remember the October 11, 2000 300 million gallon mess in Martin County, Ky.?

Jack Spadaro became a whistleblower trying to protect the public from mining disasters. For his trouble, he was forced out of his job at the US Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
In Martin County, Kentucky, in 2000, a 300 million gallon slurry pond dam collapsed, causing one of the worst environmental disasters in US history. That toxic spill was 20 times larger than the Exxon Valdez oil spill, which generated a lot of press coverage. When he investigated, he found that Massey Coal, the owner, had known for 10 years that the dam was going to break.

Does $100,000 from Massey Energy to the Republican Senate Campaign Committee, headed by Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell ring a bell. How about a toxic cover up?

by: Hillbilly

Senator Mitch McConnell sir, when you say we have the finest Health Care system in the world I have to wonder who the we are. Are you pregnant or do you have a mouse in your pocket?
