You know, a while ago I wrote this diary about my Congressman, Exxon Ed Whitfield wanting it both ways. While he voted against the stimulus and Kentucky getting any funds, he wanted to whine about how many funds we were getting.

Here in Kentucky's First Congressional District we are represented by Exxon Ed Whitfield. It is no secret to many of us here that he has been for sale every since he was elected. The Congressmen voted in on the "Contract with America" pledge to serve two terms is now running for his eighth term. It seems the money rolling in is too much for him to resist.

Boy, you can really tell a difference in two different Congressmen from Kentucky. In video captured today Exxon Ed Whitfield offered nothing but the failed arguments from the party of no, the very party that happened to crash our economy. He sure was not saying no to the failed policies of George W. Bush. Follow after the fold to compare him to Congressman John Yarmuth, the brightest star in Kentucky's Congressional delegation...

I hail from the red area of Western Kentucky as many know. This can have many frustrations in itself as we deal with not only Conservatives in our party who consistently vote Republican while registered Democrats, but we also are forced to deal with many in the national party ridiculing our unfunded efforts and writing us off as Democrats. I am sure many Democrats in other parts of the country feel the same way, ignored and powerless.

Although the House and Senate have banned lawmakers from taking money directly from lobbyists and the companies associated with them, they have found a wonderful for them new way to rake in huge lobbyist cash. It is called the leadership PAC and is traditionally used to help less fortunate candidates that the lawmaker may see the need to invest in.

It seems as if Exxon Ed Whitfield sure cannot seem to make up his mind on being fiscally prudent. You see, he speaks a good game about wanting "fiscal responsibility" but all along the way he managed to rubber-stamp every failed policy of the Bush Administration which erased a surplus, created huge deficits, and eventually crashed our economy due to their reckless policies. Exxon Eddie was along for the ride then, but now he seems to have changed his mind yet again about "fiscal restraint".

In a move that is characteristic for the Republicans in Western Kentucky, Exxon Ed Whitfield is taking the cowardly road. Instead of facing potential opponents and angry mobs bent on stifling discussion as Democrats all over country have Whitfield is hosting a "Tele Townhall" meeting. This sounds mysteriously like the "Information Meeting" that the far-right loons on the radio here will be holding in a church to propogandize Western Kentucky voters of whom many trust religous institutions.

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Well, under that definition we should just fit Exxon Ed Whitfield with a strait-jacket and make a call to the boys with the white truck. When you make a horrible decision, and a corresponding horrible vote it seems that reasonable people would learn from it and it would make them stronger. Of course, when you profit immensely from insanity bring on the strait-jacket!!

Exxon Ed Whitfield is as usual slightly confused. He seems to think he can have it both ways. His actions are reminiscent of the hypocrisy that is only known as Kentucky Republicanism. On one hand, he does not want his constituents to benefit whatsoever, but on the other hand he wants to complain about how much they do benefit.

Well, right on cue with rising gas prices we got the news yesterday that Exxon Ed Whitfield (R- Big Oil) is running for re-election in 2010. This means that Big Oil, Pharmeceuticals, and all of Corporate America will have a candidate running to represent their interests in the Congress after 2010. The people of Kentucky's First Congressional District however, are not as lucky.

Yesterday in my hometown of Paducah, the Conservative Paxton Media Group organized a "Tea Party". While I did not attend because I was working I did get to listen to some of it on the radio. The culmination was my Congressman, Exxon Ed Whitfield giving a speech and taking the signatures back to Washington.

Ed Whitfield is suffering from a condition that is rampant in long-time Republican members of Congress. That condition is known as short-term memory loss. Now, I don't know what they were smoking, or if they inhaled but it definately did it's damage. Whitfield wants to conviently forget his culpibility in rubber-stamping the failed policies that have crippled our country.
