In the Gulf Coast the fight continues to contain the oil gushing into the ocean from a blown well. Today, an attempt was made to drop a forty foot, one hundred ton "Giant Box" onto the top of the ruptured well on the Gulf floor. Despite this, oil continues to gush into the Gulf at an alarming rate as oil continues reaching land.
We have made no bones about it here. A lot of President Obama's decisions and what he has decided to fight for have been quite perplexing to us. From dropping single-payer, then the public option, to the escalation of war in Afghanistan we have had many things to be disappointed at the President many had hoped would usher in a new age of successful Progressivism. However, his latest head-scratcher has quickly shown itself to be a not so good idea, despite months and even years of the folks who are always wrong pitching hard for it.
Ah the Republicans. You know, the party of family values. Because you know we all get to jet across the country in private jets with our families and get to have wild and kinky orgies with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Now, Caribou Barbie is coming out in defense of Michael Steele and his antics over at the RNC and in doing so we may be seeing the Republican "dream team" for 2012 emerging.
Well, the Healthcare Bill will soon go to the President's desk. While this bill does have some good to it, and will extend coverage to millions while hopefully keeping those of us with pre-existing conditions from being denied coverage in retrospect this fight can only be viewed as a sorry saga for our country. Along the way you had Republicans and Democrats both confirming the worst stereotypes about their parties.
Voter turnout in last Thursday's Texas state primaries was the highest it has been in more than 20 years and what the voters of Texas had to say about the Tea Party, they said loud and crystal clear. Yet, in one more example of just how out of touch teabaggers are with reality and how impervious they are to truth and fact, the baggers have claimed victory in the Texas primaries even though every single teabagger candidate got their clocks resoundingly cleaned and their lunatic asses handed to them by the voters of Texas.
Are Democratic Blue Dogs peeking under the Tea Part tent or are they already in the tent? Could it be that the Blue Dog Democrats are Dixiecrats in disguise?
At the recent tea-bag convention Sarah Palin, whose main foreign policy experience seems to be the fact that she could see Russia from her home in Alaska, got a lot of things wrong in her speech. As the new darling of the greediest and least patriotic among us she was fast and loose with the facts. While the possible candidate for the GOP nomination passed out red-meat for the rabid masses, she seems to have left the facts somewhere frozen in the Alaskan tundra.
I went to the National Tea Party Convention, in Nashville Tennessee, and paid $368.42, including service fee and a $18.00 parking fee on top of that bringing the total to $386.42. As you can see in the photo below, this was a very conservative, or should I say skimpy meal meal with a very liberal price. Hell if these folks were running the country a "Big Mac" would cost $200.00 or more. I was so hungry after leaving the banquet I stopped by McDonnell's and got a "Big Mac" and some fries.
The so called grassroots National Tea Party Convention with, "Puttin On The Ritz"prices is being exposed for what it is. A big payday for Sarah Palin, and does anyone really believe Republican Reps. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee will speak at this so called grassroots event for free?
Politico “I'm hearing through sources Sarah Palin is getting $75k to speak at this Tea Party convention,” blogger Dan Riehl, an admirer of Palin and of the tea partyers, wrote recently after learning that she was charging a substantial fee. That's a lot of damned tea.”
The tea-party movement has morphed from a supposed "grassroots" movement to a huge money making scam for its organizers and for Conservatives such as Sarah Palin who are scamming the weakest-minded among us to the tune of millions of dollars. One need only look at the upcoming convention in Nashville to see just how bad these folks are robbing their "supporters".
