MoveOn Louisville will thank John Yarmuth for supporting healthcare reform and a strong public option and ask him to do more to promote Medicare for all, and spank Mitch McConnell for siding with insurance companies over his own constituents lives, at a rally on Thursday November 12th right over the lunch hour.
The rally will start at Fourth Street Live, proceed up Fourth Street to Broadway, then over to Mitch McConnell's office, then down to John Yarmuth's office, making several stops along the way to "thank and spank" our representatives.
Washington, DC – Today, Representative Anthony Weiner (D - Brooklyn and Queens), a member of the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, released the following statement on his decision to withdraw his single payer amendment to H.R. 3962, the House health care reform bill: “I have decided not to offer a single payer alternative to the health reform bill at this time. Given how fluid the negotiations are on the final push to get comprehensive health care reform that covers millions of Americans and contains costs through a public option, I became concerned that my amendment might undermine that important goal.” “I am going to continue to press the case for health care reform in every venue I can. And I also will continue to press for a smarter, less-expensive, more-comprehensive alternative to the employer-based health insurance system we have today.” "I've discussed the issue with Speaker Pelosi, Chairman Waxman, and agree with them that the health reform bill is so close it deserves every chance to gain a majority." Activist in Louisville held a health care rally across the street from Humana in Louisville Kentucky Thursday 10.29.09. They held a press conference at 10:00 am and then marched across the street to the Humana building, entered the building, sit down and started singing and chanting peacefully. Humana shut the building down at 6:00 pm leaving the the protesters with no restroom facilities and told the protesters if they left the building to use the restroom they would not be able to get back in. The protesters decided to spend the night. I called Rev. David Bos, retired Louisville Presbyterian minister and one of the protesters staying overnight at Humana around 3:00am this morning and he said they were going to leave the building around noon Friday 10.30.09.

This has been going on since before July of this year. This is a tug of war and it's all about money, and your health. Think about that. Nortons isn't saying you can't come there but they won't honor Anthem insurance.
If you've ever read an Explaination Of Benefits form it's the total amount charged including the mystery money that the hospital agrees to write off if you have the right kind of insurance. If you have Anthem insurance your charged the full amount if your in a Norton hospital.
Why is it I think I'm in a bad Steven King movie? It's like since December the world has been turned upside down and even though we have the controls, the bad guys are still winning.
I ran across this web page at one of the forums I frequent and I gotta ask, when were we going to hear about it?
I know there are several groups in Kentucky claiming to be for single payer health care and I've contacted them so I know they have my e-mail address, why did I just find out this caravan was going to be in Louisville on the 22nd?
Someone seems to be dropping the ball. we need people there, a lot of people there. We need to be getting the word out. Go to their web site watch the video, It's long but worth it. They tell it like it is and even made me change some thinking on things such as tort reform.
I don't believe tort reform will cure eveything but I can see where with single payer there will be no need because the medical liability will be taken over by the government. They will pay for whatever it takes.
Is it any wonder Republicans are angry about Health Care Reform. I would be to if I believed the B.S. Republican Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-2) is spewing when he says, "One nonpartisan analyst predicts that 114 million Americans will lose their coverage under H.R. 3200." That's a quote from a letter I received from Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-2) after going to his website, filling out a Health Care questionnaire and later calling his office and politely expressing my views on Health Care. When I read the letter I couldn't believe my eyes. My, my Congressman you ain't gonna be happy when Single Payer is debated on the House floor.
When Congressman Brett Guthrie speaks of, one nonpartisan analyst, he is speaking of the Lewin Group. Well guess who owns the Lewin Group? UnitedHealth Group. Now ain't that a joke.
Remember the November 4, 2008 election? Many of us thought we won. It was a real feel good night to see all of our hard work finally come to fruition after eight years of Right Wing, Morally Wrong George Bush and his never ending agenda to increase the wealth of his Wall Street and Corporate pals. OK let's fast forward to July 5, 2009 and see if our efforts made in 2008 are paying off. Wow that was fast, so here we are in the here and now with a Democratic Majority in the House, Senate and a Democratic President with 72% of us in favor of real Health Care Reform that includes a Public Plan Option. Never mind the fact that Single Payer has been taken off the table, you know the table we were supposed to have a seat at, but there wasn't enough chairs for for everyone so our chairs at the table were given to those with more at stake, the Health Care insurance lobby. It's kinda like they stole our votes after the election was over. Now that's what I call a good old fashioned Corporate American Coup.
With the upcoming debate on Healthcare looming Rural America is in dire need of solutions to this crisis. The only fact we can be sure of is that solutions of the past simply have not worked. Rural Americans and businesses face many obstacles in care and need relief. The facts are staggering and the picture is not improving for Rural Americans.
