The Myth Of A Republican House of Representatives

by: RDemocrat

Mon Nov 12, 2012 at 16:02:33 PM EST

Immediately after their drubbing on Election Day a Republican talking point quickly emerged to excuse them from doing the will of the American people. The dust had not even settled when we heard Republican "leaders" stating that indeed Obama had won re-election and Democrats had retained the Senate, but since Americans voted also to keep a majority of Republicans in the House that meant that we did not really want the wealthy and Corporations to pay their fair share, we really wanted healthcare repealed and we actually wanted trickle-down economics to continue. Well, as with everything Republicans try to shove down America's throat a Republican majority in the House is just another myth dreamed up by Republicans.

I Agree With the Motor City Idiot, Sort Of

by: RDemocrat

Sun Jul 08, 2012 at 21:11:30 PM EDT

After his career of making crappy music except for a few songs Ted Nugent has been known for something else. Traveling the country and making a fool of himself. As a right-wing zealot he somehow constantly tries to wrap his extreme views in the American flag. Well, now he is showing everyone the true flag he follows. Yes, now the Motor City Idiot is shining his true colors, the Stars and Bars. Ironically for once I may just agree with him. Well, at least sort of.

The Supreme Court, Healthcare, And Two God-Awful Senators from Kentucky

by: RDemocrat

Mon Jul 02, 2012 at 02:30:15 AM EDT

As many know around here we are no friend to Senator Mitch McConnell. Although we are from the Commonwealth of Kentucky we know neither of our Senators serve us. Mitch McConnell serves his true masters in Communist China and Corporate America, and Rand Paul serves his fantasy world where bong hits are awarded as sacrifice to Aqua Buhdda. The harm that bong had on his brain cells is quite evident. However, despite our quite low expectations of these two zealots sometimes they can manage to do things that make even us wonder how in the hell these guys got anyone, anywhere to vote them into any office.

Don't Let Romney Bork America

by: RDemocrat

Sun Jul 01, 2012 at 03:46:34 AM EDT

Selecting Supreme Court Justices is one of the most important jobs a President will do. Justices serve for life, and their rulings affect every aspect of our country, from workers' rights and corporate power to a woman's reproductive health and who can vote in elections.

Who has Mitt Romney chosen to help him select Justices? Right-wing extremist Robert Bork, whose views are so extreme his own nomination to the Court was rejected by a broad, bipartisan coalition more than 20 years ago.

Was A Coup d'état Hatched Under Those Eloquent Supreme Court Robes?

by: Hillbilly

Fri Jun 08, 2012 at 12:46:50 PM EDT

What is the best way to overthrow a Democracy? That's a question few of us would consider, because the vast majority of us love Democracy. However it's a question some would consider because Democracy gets in their way when it comes to gathering power and enriching themselves.

Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling
by the Supreme Court, in my opinion , was a brilliant Coup d'état. Normally a Coup d'état is the sudden, illegal deposition of a government. This (Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling by the Supreme Court) Coup d'état will not be sudden, but will be just as deadly. It will allow Corporate America establish their dominance over our political system and kill the Democracy so many Americans have fought and died to preserve.

Supreme Court Inc. When Is The Last Time A Corporation Breast Fed A Child?

by: Hillbilly

Thu May 31, 2012 at 16:49:14 PM EDT

The United States Supreme Court lost all credibility when they ruled corporations are people. Even a moron knows corporations aren't people. When is the last time a corporation, fathered a child, got pregnant and gave birth, breast fed a child, volunteered to serve their country in the military, run for political office, had a heart attack, sent to jail, etc.?

Television Access To Supreme Court Proceedings (S.1945)? You Betcha. This Is America!

by: Hillbilly

Fri Feb 10, 2012 at 15:02:54 PM EST

The Supreme Court doesn't seem to worry about making decisions that affect our Democracy and our everyday lives, but they don't want us to watch them do it. Welcome to America. However their wishes to hold their court proceedings out of the public eye met a stumbling block February 9, 2012 when the Senate Judiciary Committee, by a 11-7 vote, approved S.1945.

The Senate Judiciary Committee Approves S.1945. Television Access To Supreme Court Proceedings.

by: Hillbilly

Thu Feb 09, 2012 at 14:28:30 PM EST

The Senate Judiciary Committee, by a 11-7 vote, approved S.1945. This Bill would allow television access to Supreme Court proceedings.
S. 1945 The Supreme Court shall permit television coverage of all open sessions of the Court unless the Court decides, by a vote of the majority of justices, that allowing such coverage in a particular case would constitute a violation of the due process rights of 1 or more of the parties before the Court.

CSPAN video of the hearing is after the fold.

Supreme Court Ruling: Connick v. Thompson - Prosecutors You Are Immune From Willful Misconduct

by: Hillbilly

Thu Mar 31, 2011 at 23:55:46 PM EDT

This is the way I see this ruling: Supreme Court of the United States of America ruled that it's OK for prosecutors to withhold evidence that that would exonerate you, take you to trial, convict you of a crime you didn't commit, put you on death row for 14 years, spend 18 years in prison but it's not OK if a jury awards you $14 million after you've been freed because you finally got the evidence that had been with held, by the prosecutors, for 14 years.

That's how I see it, but you can go here to see what the New York Times has to say.

Why Is The Supreme Court Of The United States Of America Afraid Of Live Television Coverage?

What Does The Supreme Court And James O'Keefe Have In Common? Read on and find out.

Before we go any further I hope we can stipulate the United States Supreme Court Justices are human beings with all the flaws of being human. In other words they put their pants and panties on just like we do.

These guys and gals (Supreme Court Justices) are beholding to no one. They have a life time position and make their own rules. Now that's a good gig if you can get it. They're the top of the Judicial heap here in the USA. and to tell you the truth, I'm not sure that being the top of Judicial heap here in the USA is something to be proud of.

Greg Palast | Chevron Runs From Judgment in Ecuador
Greg Palast, Truthout: "Chevron Petroleum Corporation is attempting to slither out of an $8 billion judgment rendered yesterday by a trial court in Ecuador for cancer deaths, illnesses and destruction caused by its Texaco unit. I've been there, in Ecuador. I met the victims. They didn't lose their shrimp boats; they lost their kids. Emergildo Criollo, chief of the Cofan natives of the Amazon, told me about his three-year-old. 'He went swimming, then began vomiting blood.' Then he died. And, then, I met Chevron-Texaco's lawyers. When I showed Texaco lawyer Rodrigo Perez the epidemiological studies tracing childhood cancers to their oil, he sneered and said, 'And it's the only case of cancer in the world? How many cases of children with cancer do you have in the States, in Europe, in Quito?'"

Common Cause Asks Court About Thomas' Connection to Koch Brothers
Eric Lichtblau, The New York Times News Service: "Discrepancies in reports about an appearance by Justice Clarence Thomas at a political retreat for wealthy conservatives three years ago have prompted new questions to the Supreme Court from a group that advocates changing campaign finance laws. When questions were first raised about the retreat last month, a court spokeswoman said Justice Thomas had made a 'brief drop-by' at the event in Palm Springs, Calif., in January 2008 and had given a talk."

Lets Start With Clarence Thomas...

by: RDemocrat

Fri Feb 11, 2011 at 21:24:19 PM EST

All the anger in our country right now is sadly ironic. While there is so very much to be angry about the sad part is that folks just seem to refuse to be mad about the things that have really caused all the inequality in our country the last several decades. One case in point is the disgraceful ruling by the Supreme Court to allow Corporations to buy elections. Hillbilly has pointed out how, inspired by the Egyptian protests which enacted real change Americans should begin with protesting the Corporate Supreme Court of the United States.

Hey America Walk Like Or Should I Say Protest Like An Egyptian

by: Hillbilly

Fri Feb 11, 2011 at 12:26:25 PM EST

Hey America Walk Like Or should I Say Protest Like An Egyptian.

The Egyptian people have showed us how persistence can make real changes. I hope we digested this and realize common folks can make real change if they are persistent and peaceful.

I'm suggesting we can do the same thing here in Corporate America if we focus our protest on one Corporate owned government institution at a time. I'm suggesting we focus a persistent protest at the most corrupt Corporate owned government institution first and I'm suggesting that Corporate owned government institution is the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

I can see it now thousands of people in Washington DC for days on end until the Supreme Court realizes we are the people, and Corporations are Corporations.

We can change the direction of America if we decide to get off our asses and and walk protest like and Egyptian.

The Corporate Takeover

( - promoted by RDemocrat)

In 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Citizens United v. F.E.C. that corporations have the same rights as human beings when it comes to free speech. And that political campaign contributions are a form of free speech.

Corporate dollars began flooding Republican campaigns. The GOP won a majority in the House of Representatives. A corporation even ran for Congress.

Realizing the benefits of a corporate structure, people across the country have started adopting corporate personhood.

Secret Donations Threaten the American Way

by: RDemocrat

Mon Nov 22, 2010 at 12:02:47 PM EST

Since the disgraceful Supreme Court ruling which allowed Corporations and shadow groups with secret donors to buy "Democracy" with huge, unchecked donations made in secret we have been trying to point out how dangerous it is for our freedom in America here. These folks with bottomless pockets, and a greedy self-serving agenda not only threaten to influence elections, but they threaten the very fabric of the American way. You see, these folks can give their money to work against your interests and then remain in the dark. For folks like me the fact that they are not required to disclose their donations means we cannot fight back with the only thing these folks seem to understand, our money and business.

Karl Rove Continues to Buy American Corporate Facism

by: RDemocrat

Mon Oct 25, 2010 at 14:23:48 PM EDT

What do you do when you are the disgraced "architect" of a failed agenda that nearly drove our country off a cliff?? If you are Karl Rove, you do what you do best. You solicit contributions from the very people who helped you destroy your country's economy and use the millions of those who crashed the economy and were bailed out to circumvent Democracy and attempt to buy an election for the greediest and least patriotic among us. Worse yet, if you are the "Turd Blossom" from the last Administration you lie through your teeth about folks who unlike you play by the rules.
