When you go to a tea-bag festival you expect to hear folks railing against Social Security. Unless of course they are drawing it and you should keep you government hands off it. However, it seems as if the tea-bag mentality is going to put a huge "bi" in the bi-partisan fiscal commission. Alan Simpson, co-chair of the commission had some interesting insights into Social Security, and the Republican vision for it. The only thing left to wonder, is why is he still there??

It seems Rand Paul is far from alone in hating the federal government, and wanting to strip it of all power costing millions of Americans any benefit whatsoever of a federal government. While Paul wants to cut federal funds that help combat drug abuse Sharon Angle out in Nevada has gone even further. She wants to follow the "lead" of a right-wing dictator in Chile and phase out Social Security. However, in her zest to feed the tea-bag masses red meat she misses the fact that the Chilean system is not still fully private.

You know, this tea-bag mentality that spurned such candidates as Rand Paul quickly shows just how unrealistic it's ideology is when unraveled. You see, to "starve the beast" and provide "freedom" from the federal government you have to do away with many things that many people want and depend on and sooner or later it comes back to bite you when you have to back step and as Republicans call it "flip-flop". You also have to bankrupt the state and local governments you put so much faith in.

They say keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Whether Progressives want to admit it or not, we are in an ideological war for the soul of our country right now. It is time that we all started fighting like we did during the Bush years and like the "tea-bag" loons are now. Their vision, if enacted by mandate from the next election would destroy the America we all hold dear. One needs only look into the horse's mouth to know what kind of country we are fighting against.

Well the primary election is decided in the state of Kentucky and as I expected we had a razor-thin margin on the Democratic side. I knew that one was too close to call but I must admit I thought Mongiardo would win by about the margin Conway did. What was really funny was watching the Republican drama unfold and blow up in Mitch McConnell's face. It is pretty funny how Fox News actually chipped in to help out the mad doctor with the twisty curls.

Today is Tea Party Day yet again. The day that the greediest and least patriotic among us will hold rallies across the country as well as descending upon Washington D.C. However, on this "Tea-Party" day I think it is very relevant to look at exactly who these folks are and what section of the population they represent. Luckily, a new NY Times/CBS poll goes a long way in doing just that.

As many of you know that are regular readers Kentucky's Fourth Congressional District has a Democratic candidate. They have a real citizen, veteran, and Progressive alternative to corrupt Geoff Davis for representation in Congress. While he has shown some great success on ActBlue in that district he needs and deserves the support of national and statewide Democrats. Today, he is fighting back against the threats of Geoff Davis, who is playing both sides of the tea-bag movement.

Straight from the files of the radical tea-party movement we get this story. In some places it appears that if you want to get a cup of coffee or a pizza, you might just have to deal with a gun-toting mob to do so. You see, a grassroots effort is underway to bring attention to open-carry gun laws and use them to bring about more concealed carry gun laws. However, this new movement may do more harm than good as it not only makes gun-control advocates very nervous, but it has started to expose some rifts among gun advocates.

Like me you are probably fed up with the hypocritical actions of the hypocritical tea-bagger movement. These folks will lovingly take advantage of government programs while denying others the same right, and hating their government. Now, there is an alternative that seeks to change our government while not hating it.

At the recent tea-bag convention Sarah Palin, whose main foreign policy experience seems to be the fact that she could see Russia from her home in Alaska, got a lot of things wrong in her speech. As the new darling of the greediest and least patriotic among us she was fast and loose with the facts. While the possible candidate for the GOP nomination passed out red-meat for the rabid masses, she seems to have left the facts somewhere frozen in the Alaskan tundra.

I have been pretty tough on President Obama. Anyone who has read my writing the last several months knows that. This is because I feel he has been taking baby-steps in fixing our nation's problems and has compromised way too much to people who need a good slap-down. I seems as if Obama is more worried about offending the lunatic right that will hate him no matter what than he is in delivering the "hope and change" that Progressives, and indeed the American electorate begged for in the last election.

The tea-party movement has morphed from a supposed "grassroots" movement to a huge money making scam for its organizers and for Conservatives such as Sarah Palin who are scamming the weakest-minded among us to the tune of millions of dollars. One need only look at the upcoming convention in Nashville to see just how bad these folks are robbing their "supporters".

You know the tea-baggers probably should change their names. The "taxed enough already" thing just does not fit. One of the main reasons it does not is that their taxes have not even been raised yet. Another reason is that they are being scammed by power-brokers in the Republican Party. I guess a more fitting name would be "sea-baggers" as they have been "scammed enough already".

I know that every American has the right to assemble and protest peaceably in this country. It is one of the things that makes this country so great. However, these "tea-baggers" are really starting to get pretty annoying. In all their self-righteous hypocrisy they seek to convince America to ignore the harsh truths they themselves have worked so hard to create.

Nothing Glenn Beck says surprises me anymore. It does not even surprising to me know that many hate-filled, ignorant souls believe his every word like gospel. What is really surprising is that while calling us the "Hate America" crowd he actually let it slip what country he really admires.

The opponents of Progress in our country are showing just what they are made of. There latest target is Tom Periello of Virgina. Think what you want of him but this guy has made some gutsy votes. On one important vote he has already taken a stand and sounded like a real Democrat in doing so. Now for his efforts it appears that the Chamber of Commerce may be running illegal ads against him and that the classy folks within the delusional "Tea-bagger" movement may burn him in effigy, of course right along with Nancy Pelosi.

Well, we have a healthcare bill passed in the House. While I have very mixed feelings on the bill, it is at least a step in the right direction, albeit a baby step. However, as while I wanted the bill to be stronger and fear it's fate in the "House of Lords" known as the U.S. Senate, I will not sit idly by as Conservative idiot "pundits" lie about the process which gave birth to this historical vote.

The right just loves to fear the dark. After falling for the propoganda of fear constantly pushed during the George W. Bush years, it seems as if they have a new leader to whip them it to paranodic frenzy. Yes Sarah Palin, the Queen of the foolish, and of right wing loons everywhere, has struck yet again.

Ah, the teabag movement has once again marshalled it's forces in Washington D.C. Ultra-Conservatives with selective memories and misplaced outrage are once again having public hissy-fits. Not that I do not think that is their right, I believe it is perfectly within their rights to gather in Washington and protest. It is certainly more polite than yelling in the ears of your neighbors and talking over them. And like those townhalls, it gives great perspective at where these folks are coming from and makes me so very glad to be on the other side.
