In an expected turn of events that has been coming down the wire it appears as if the knife is sharpened and once again Progressives have been stabbed in the back. The "House of Lords" could not manage to represent those of us in the unwashed masses and have decided to side once again with the high and mighty and not give real Americans a real choice in healthcare all while shoving the mandate down their throats.
Republicans are already salivating at their chances for gains in 2010. In my opinion, I think they overestimate their own position in the minds of voters. Their chances largely hinge on the hope that voters will completely forget what has gotten this country in the huge mess it was facing when Barack Obama took office. While Republicans now seek to blame Obama for the crashed economy and the high unemployment rate, they insult the American intelligence by assuming that we all just forgot who crashed the economy and cost all those millions of jobs.
Although the Public Option has been written off time and time again for the sake of "bi-partisanship" and to give comfort to Corporate Democrats, Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa is still confident that a Healthcare bill will pass by Christmas and that indeed, it will have a public option that will compete with private insurance and drive down costs.
