Rand Paul is moving ahead with his 2016 Presidential campaign right on schedule. Next stop, South Carolina. Yes, today Paul is making his presence felt in one of the early primary states. With his eye on the White House he is endorsing Mark Sanford for the 1st Congressional seat in that state. However, today he is not alone in his endorsement of Sanford and upon further review these two appear to be kindred spirits in more ways that just political.
One thing we can all be certain of. The Mad Doctor with the twisty curls who became the Mad Senator now very much wants to be the Mad President. However, one thing that stands in his way is one simple fact. The American voter sees things a little different and is a little less forgiving than the voters of Kentucky for radical views. So to actually be President Rand Paul is going to have to embark on a "cleaning up" tour of radical statements he made that were forgiven in his Kentucky Senate campaign. Today, that "cleaning up" tour began in Washington D.C. at Howard University.
It is no secret that the Mad Doctor with the twisty curls Rand Paul wants to be President. It is also no secret that the now disgraced tea-bagger movement would love nothing more than to elect a radical zealot from their ranks to the White House to continue the destruction of our country wrought by the Corporate Republicans of the last Administration. However, what they really want to keep secret is just what their vision for this country will really be. That is why they are sugar-coating what a "libertarian-Republican" administration would really mean.
One thing I still say as the Presidential election winds down in 2012. Republicans are certainly entitled to their own opinions but they are not entitled to their own facts. Just because you repeat a slogan ten thousand times does not make it fact. One thing Republicans like to claim they represent and Democrats are completely devoid of is "Judeo-Christian values". However, taking a real close look into the conduct of Republicans and their "leaders" one wonders just what "values" these folks are talking about.
Hurricane Sandy has come along and put a hold on campaigning in the Presidential election. While the East Coast is distracted with more important things over here in Western Kentucky we can still think politics. And since a massive storm has come along to slow things down a bit it got me to thinking. What would be the Romney/Ryan vision for Americans that are beset by similiar tragedies if they do indeed win the White House.
It seems as if as much as any President ever, Barack Obama has had plenty of myths swirling around him and his rise to prominence. While right-wing loonies are always going to hate anyone that does not agree with their stone-age vision of the world Barack Obama seems to have his fair share of folks that just simply hate him no matter what. Since this is America, these folks are entitled to their own opinion. However, as I have stated before they are not entitled to their own truth, or myths about the President and what he has and hasn't done in the White House.
One Republican tactic we have become all too familiar with. Republicans lying by saying they seek to help "small businesses" with their trickle-down economics. Even bigger is the lie that any of their opponents are proposing to destroy those same "small businesses". In truth all they really care about is protecting huge corporations from having to pay fair wages, give benefits, pay taxes, and follow sensible regulations. As in the case with President Obama, Republicans care little about the truth or those "small businesses" they use as a talking point.
Tonight in the debate President Obama used the opportunity afforded him to not only critisize the "nation building" policies of the previous administration but to point out that we had a nation right here, America that needs some rebuilding of its own. Not only that, we have millions of Americans who need to be put to work doing that "nation building". While Republicans will tell you that President Obama has no plans to do that in his second term as always with the Republicans the truth is far from their reality. You see, President Obama had a plan to do that in his FIRST term.
Tonight we watched a Republican candidate get schooled in a debate by an incumbent President. So much to the point that he started just mostly agreeing with that President to milk the clock out. However, when Mitt Romney wasn't learning about nuclear submarines and that the Army does not have Calvary anymore he tried to resort to what he has used this whole campaign. Lies. However, one lie regurgitated from Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity just does not stand up to scrutiny.
With the polls tightening in the Presidential race the likelihood of a Romney Administration is growing. Which brings the question up, besides more trickle-down economics what would a Romney Administration mean? Disaster for millions of Americans. If you were born after 1957 then you should read on and consider what a Romney Administration could cost you.
I know I have been mostly absent for a long time now and I do apologize. The last year or so I have faced many challenges and it has been hard to remain focused on much. However, the last couple of weeks I looked up and noticed a very frightening thing. Many Americans are seriously considering giving Mitt Romney and the Republican Party he "leads" control of the White House once more. I cannot sit idly by and not fight against that happening with every fiber of my being.
With the election nearing and the economy slowly recovering Americans need to be aware of one thing. The Republican Party not only were instrumental in causing the economic crash in 2008 with their trickle-down idiocy, their costly wars, and their constant deregulation of the financial industry but they have been even more instrumental in doing their best to delay and minimize a full recovery for all Americans? Why? Well it seems as if in the last four years Republicans have not been concentrating on what is best for their country, but what they can do to make Obama a one-term President no matter who suffers for it.
Who knows if it is idiocy or just uncaring greed. Whatever the reason, Republicans live in a fantasy world when it comes to the plight of Americans without health insurance. In a never-ending quest to repeal the healthcare law we did get Republicans will say anything. Yes, from their former "leader" to their new one it appears as if either ignorance, propoganda or just plain greed fuels their knowledge of just why healthcare costs were so high to begin with.
At the last debate a great actor gave a great performance. What he did not give was specifics on the vision that he and his party would "lead" America with. What we heard were lies and distortions. The only specific? Well, it seems as if Mitt Romney and the Republicans he "leads" have a problem with Big Bird.
Last night in the first Presidential debate we saw a performance from Mitt Romney that had many people fawning in admiration. The only problem? Last night in the Presidential debate Americans heard nothing about how Romney will implement his "vision" for America. What we really heard was a bunch of lies, distortion of the Presidents record and some silly little talking points that Romney has never backed up with facts. The fact of the matter is that trickle-down economics simply does not work and everytime it is tried more Americans suffer and fall into poverty. Of course, folks like Romney could care less because they are the very few that ever benefit from this idiocy.
The hits keep coming from Mitt Romney. Fresh off stating it is fair for himself to pay less in taxes than the rest of us he had a lot to outdo. But outdo it he did. It seems as if the agenda of greed and idiocy Romney was forced to adopt to run as the standard bearer of the lunatic right-wing party the Republicans have become is constantly painting him into a corner and he is forcing him to make completely ignorant statements to satisfy his increasingly rabid and ignorant or just plain greedy base.
Americans going to the polls in November today can easily see the difference between the candidates for President and indeed what is wrong with our country in the last few decades. Men like Mitt Romney want to make hundreds of millions of dollars on your backs and then when it is time to pay back to the system that allowed them so much wealth they believe they should be exempt. Worse than that, they believe that they should pay less than middle and lower class Americans who work hard every day to make those profits possible.
Good news is coming out of at least two important swing states. It appears as if Americans may not be as gullible as Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and the Republican "leadership" hopes. It appears now as if in two important swing states that are usually Republican strengths President Obama may be opening up a lead.
One thing all Americans should consider before going to the polls this November. What Republican elitists and their "leaders" like Mitt Romney really think about them. While it is always evident in their actions and what they fight for to anyone who sees the truth those that cannot were given a refresher course by none other than Mitt Romney.
