Daniel Mongiardo stands against Cap-and-Trade legislation

by: Shack

Thu Jun 25, 2009 at 17:30:10 PM EDT

Thank GOD Daniel Mongiardo is standing against cap and trade. This legislation would devastate Kentucky's economy and Virginia's economy as well. We need leaders who will not follow the DC crowd blindly. Mongiardo will take a stand and stick with it, IT is refreshing that we have a Lt. Governor and a leading Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate who has the guts to take a stand.

With Mongiardo sounding off strongly against cap and trade, what will Jack Conway do? He absolutely must support cap and trade because his constituents would hang him if he didn't. So listen up Rural Kentucky, Daniel Mongiardo is on your side.

by: Shack

Thu May 28, 2009 at 19:42:32 PM EDT

I will keep the spin off this blog. I will report these numbers because my so-called breaking story last night needs a little brother.

Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo holds an overall 43% to 28% lead over Attorney General Jack Conway according to an internal poll released today by the Mongiardo campaign.

BREAKING: Mongiardo and Conway poll numbers on the way

by: Shack

Wed May 27, 2009 at 22:20:46 PM EDT

We are hearing from a very reliable source that a poll in regards to the Democratic primary for US Senate will be released soon. We also hear that this poll is bad news and devastating for Jack Conway.

We can only speculate and provide blind analysis. Early polling is very important for a candidate's ability to fundraise, especially when the primary is a year away. The next reporting period will set the table for this developing Democratic primary for US Senate. I guess we will have to wait and see what the poll reflects.

This in not an attack on Conway but I have to ask the question; what if Conway is getting crushed? Does he soldier on and climb the mountain or does he consider another move? We have a super long time to go so anything can happen.

The Kentucky General Assembly must make a move for the horse racing industry

by: Shack

Thu May 21, 2009 at 17:54:45 PM EDT

Kentucky's horse racing industry will be in danger of becoming irrelevant if the Kentucky General Assembly fails to approve slots at tracks. I am not a big fan of expanded gaming but practicality instead of politics must come first in this special session.

In 2010 Kentucky Democrats will arrive at the Crossroads

by: Shack

Sun May 17, 2009 at 13:15:18 PM EDT

In 2010 the rural faction (the majority) of our Kentucky Democratic Party will either be strengthened by the nomination of the Moderate/Conservative candidate Daniel Mongiardo, or will be forever changed with the nomination of the so-called Liberal candidate Jack Conway. All these covert and overt attacks (fake twitters, anonymous attack sites, constant and unrelenting personal attacks) will not work in the long run. The issues will decide this race. That's why I will not......

Republican Cannibalism!!

by: Shack

Tue May 12, 2009 at 21:20:22 PM EDT

Looks like the GOP is bucking for a fight, not with Democrats, with each other. Someone, who calls former Governor Ernie Fletcher a "conservative hero", is hitting Trey Grayson in the mouth. I smell a draft Forgy movement coming.

Trey Grayson forms Senate exploratory committee

by: Shack

Thu Apr 30, 2009 at 18:43:17 PM EDT

Grayson has made it clear that he has no plans to run against his friend and mentor, incumbent Senator Jim Bunning. But I knew something was cooking because my webstats is showing a lot of searches for "Trey Grayson Senate" or variations of. Most of these searches were from folks from Congress and the Senate....

Will the "Cap and Trade" Debate Galvanize Rural Kentucky?

by: Shack

Wed Apr 29, 2009 at 22:12:13 PM EDT

The cap and trade issue is heating up and many rural Kentuckians are cursing and spitting in Obama's direction.  But most don't realize that Obama has yet to officially endorse the legislation proposed by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA).

The turd in the punch bowl is the fact that cap and trade will raise your juice (rural slang for electricity) bill. How much? Some say 40% and some say higher. Talk is cheap and so is our electricity, especially in Kentucky.

Mountaintop Removal Refuse Fight Still Raging In Appalachia

by: Shack

Mon Apr 27, 2009 at 17:42:45 PM EDT

The Obama administration is set to ask the courts to overturn an 11th hour Bush policy change that now allows the dumping of surface mining refuse 100ft near streams.

Governor Steve Beshear, Attorney General Jack Conway, Congressman John Yarmuth and Congressman Ben Chandler has sent protest letters to the EPA asking them to reject Bush's policy change a few months ago.

Right or wrong; that organized protest backfired as dozens of Kentucky Coal County Legislators protested the protest. The political fallout in the coal fields is still evolving. We may not know how bad it really is for a few months.

My sources tell me...

Experience Matters: Daniel Mongiardo has the Experience, Jack Conway Does Not

by: Shack

Sat Apr 25, 2009 at 13:07:57 PM EDT

The latest installment of results from our most recent survey on Gay marriage, Mountaintop Removal and experience shows that all political groups in Kentucky agree on one thing; experience matters. The results are so clear that no-one can deny that experience may be the most important element in the Democratic primary for US Senate.

Of course Daniel Mongiardo has the experience to.....

NEW SURVEY RESULTS: Gay Marriage

by: Shack

Tue Apr 21, 2009 at 18:34:02 PM EDT

The results of this survey is certainly not surprising. We specifically targeted Democrats in this survey. We know this issue is dangerous in a general election because of the Republican vote. But we wanted to see if this issue would be dangerous in a Democratic primary. Well, it is...............Go see the results.

HEY COAL GUYS, PAY YOUR FINES!!!

by: Shack

Fri Apr 17, 2009 at 20:26:46 PM EDT

This is the perfect opportunity to clean house in the political hierarchy of coal in Kentucky. Political posturing and bullshit will get you kicked in the teeth now,,, Bill Caylor,, do your job. I support coal 100%, but I do not support the fact that some coal operators think they do not have to play by the rules. Pay your damn fines before they shut you down!

I am going to tell you a little story told to me by a great man, Dink Shackleford, GOD rest his soul.............

Some Think the 2010 US Senate Race is a Fight for Kentucky's Values

by: Shack

Tue Apr 14, 2009 at 17:41:56 PM EDT

Daniel Mongiardo's message is simple to understand. His message reminds Kentuckians that we have a fight on our hands in this Democratic primary. A fight for values. For the first time in a long time Kentucky Democrats will be faced with a tough choice; not the tough choice of picking a candidate, a choice between urban and rural values....
